A celebration of World Migratory Bird Day was held at Mida Creek on Saturday 13 May.
The event started early with bird watching along the creek, followed by a quiz and a game, highlighting the journeys of migrating birds, for the 150 school children who attended. This was followed by a beach cleanup and stimulating speeches from Wildlife Clubs of Kenya, ARocha, the warden of KWS and our chairman of Friends of Arabuko-Sokoke Forest, Tukero Ole Kina. All the speakers spoke in different ways to the young people present on the need to protect the environment and the importance of their part in doing this.
Kalama Ali of Nature Kenya was master of ceremonies and organised the successful event
